Here is how you can avoid a cheap twittr hack. It usually goes the same way a fhishing mail does.
You may get a twitter message alerting you that somebody is sending bad tweets about you. Then you click the shortened URL in a hurry which lands you on a fake login page.
You hurriedly enter your username and password then BOOM! You just fell for a hack. They now have your account details and they can do just about anything with it.
I almost fell for that trick today and luckily is suspected it was a Phishing attack. Then i had to quickly login on the REAL twitter page and changed my password.
How to avoid a Phishing attack? Know that your email addressis private and only an acquintance would send you such a warning. So if you get such unsolicited messages, be 99% sure it`s a phishing mail and all you have to do is report it as SPAM.
